WHAT IS IT?
A really cute and practical bag crocheted from Berber Rug Yarn making it durable, economical and versatile.
WHAT'S IT FOR?
This lovely bag is made using just a couple of strands of any of our tweedy or plain Berber yarns which come in a small range of neutral, natural shades. They are generally thicker than the Axminster shades so you need less strands for a really rigid, strong finish. Combine strands, increase the number of rounds, make longer handles and play around to create the perfect bag for you. You could even leave off the handles to create a bowl or "vase" shape which in these tweedy shades look great as storage vessels around the house.
Berber is a pure wool rug yarn which is a strong and durable yarn available in a small selection of neutral shades, so choose a palette that co-ordinates with your wardrobe and you'll have a unique hardwearing bag - perfect for your knitting and crochet projects.
You can use most chunky knitting yarns for this pattern, just crochet a tension square first to check your gauge if using an alternative. However, the beauty of rug yarn is the toughness, so a knitting yarn may be a little soft and floppy.
WHY SHOULD I BUY IT?
Designed exclusively for our Berber by Pam Nixon of Little Sacs who makes and sells bags online and at craft shows, this is a tried and tested design. Pam is quite laid back about her designs and makes them up as she goes along to give individuality to each bag. She encourages you to do the same, so ply up multiple ends, play around with textures and colours. And as you'll be downloading you'll get the pattern immediately.
