WHAT IS IT?
Seriously Chunky is a really popular pure acrylic super chunky yarn. Extra colours have recently been added to the range due to a collaboration between Cygnet and Sincerely Louise who introduced shades inspired by fairytale castles and mythical beasts – these are the Mythically Chunky part of the range. Both ranges are the same thickness and same description so can easily be interchanged.
We aren’t normally fans of pure acrylic yarns, but if you need something practical and at a great price then this is a perfect yarn. You may be knitting a gift for someone who only machine washes or who has an allergy to wool, in which case it also gets the thumbs up! It looks great and has a really nice twist, so you can be confident that when it’s been whizzed in the washing machine a few times it will still look good.
WHAT'S IT FOR?
For the fastest knitting or crochet projects this is the ideal yarn. Make into both garments and accessories for yourself and the home. It’s perfect for those last minute gifts or if you need some instant gratification and makes brilliant hats, scarves, mitts and cowls. It won’t weigh you down even though it’s very thick, so you can make great big cosy throws, blankets, wraps and cushions too.
This fun yarn is also brilliant for quick and easy projects like pompoms and yarn bombing, plus kids love the colours, thickness and immediate results!
We have a free downloadable pattern available for an easy reversible cable scarf with fun pompoms! It knits up in an afternoon and is great for anyone new to cabling as it’s so quick and easy. Made from just four balls that’s less than a tenner for a really generous, long scarf! You could also take a look at Sincerely Louise’s website (www.sincerelylouise.co.uk) where you’ll find a couple of free patterns using Mythically Chunky as well as inspiration for using these yarns in fun and quirky ways.
Knit or crochet to super chunky patterns, though super chunky is a slightly vague thickness, so check tensions first and don’t knit it too tightly or it will be stiff and solid.
