WHAT IS IT?

Kintra is a beautifully fine pure wool yarn in a lovely palette of both subtle, traditional shades and brighter, zingy hues. It has a gentle lustre and is around a 1ply knitting thickness.

As with most wool yarns, this yarn is untreated so will "full" slightly when gently washed to create a softer effect.

Though there isn't an ecru in the range it will work perfectly with our undyed Wool City 2/28 pure British Wool yarn - Kintra is ever so slightly thicker, but it's negligible.

WHAT'S IT FOR?

Fine wools such as Kintra are perfect for weaving to create soft, lightweight draping fabrics. As with many very fine yarns it isn't the strongest in the world, so is most suited to the weft, though can be used in the warp with care. It can also be used for delicate tapestry and tablet weaving, braids, bands and cords.

It can be used on an industrial or fine gauge knitting machines as it is, or hold three strands together to create approx. 4ply where a standard gauge or hand knitting tension can be achieved. If you have the patience it is also perfect to knit or crochet by hand into very delicate lace pieces.

"Full" the knitted or woven fabric by washing gently to soften up the surface and full it out a bit, or be a bit more daring and machine wash for soft, gentle felt, but try on a small sample square first!

A lovely yarn to use for embroidery for delicate wool work or ply almost like a stranded cotton to create a thicker yarn for crewel work or couching.

Suitable Crafts: Braidmaking, Crocheting, Embroidery, Feltmaking, Knitting, Lacemaking, Machine Knitting, Tapestry Weaving, Tasselmaking, Weaving

WHY SHOULD I BUY IT?

It is a yarn that's versatile, and you get a lot of yarn for a great price. A wide range of repeatable colours.
