WHAT IS IT?
Mohair is still as popular as ever whether with couture designers or home crafters. This outstanding, luxurious brushed mohair yarn is spun from 78% mohair, 13% wool and 9% nylon. It is available in a wide range of vibrant and muted colours and the character of mohair means it goes an awfully long way in all types of projects whilst staying light and floaty. The high percentage of mohair ensures a soft, luxurious yarn that can be worn against the skin, though some people may find it tickly, rather than scratchy.
50g balls/cones are perfect to add a big splash of colour within a larger project, or choose a selection for a colourful blanket or striped sweater. (Please note that although the image shown is a ball the yarn could arrive on a 50g cone - if this is a problem please let us know).*Also available on 450g cones*
WHAT'S IT FOR?
Destiny Mohair is perfect for knitting and crocheting into warm and cosy garments and accessories. Circa 450g should give you one sweater of approx. 36"/38" and one 50g cone/ball knitted on big needles will create a long, soft scarf! Excellent for using on a chunky knitting machine for quick results.
Many mohairs knit or crochet to the same tension on the same needles even if the meterage or the thickness is different. Because mohair is light and fluffy, with a "halo" it bulks out to the same gauge, therefore a thicker mohair will produce a thick, light fabric and a thinner one will produce a light, floaty fabric that will be the same size as each other!! It is generally knitted as chunky, though if you're using a pattern which isn't specifically for chunky check your tension first.
Mohair is excellent for soft furnishings as it weaves into warm, soft and light throws, blankets and cushions making it an unusual, but very effective weaving yarn.
Suitable Crafts: Braidmaking, Crocheting, Feltmaking, Knitting, Tapestry Weaving, Tasselmaking, Weaving
WHY SHOULD I BUY IT?
It's very difficult to find mohair in such a wide range of colours, and as most shades are repeatable it's great for designers needing regular colours for seasons of collections. The balls are excellent for adding a splash of colour or smaller projects, with the big cones great for larger pieces.
