WHAT IS IT?
Pure natural coloured linen is twisted into this strong, versatile yarn. Packed full of texture with both pale and dark linen and strands of natural vegetation this is a most unusual fancy style yarn.
WHAT'S IT FOR?
Linen is ideal for all different crafts requiring a strong, tough yarn. Though its handle is quite rough, it will soften with use and can tolerate machine washing and tumble drying.
The hand spun appearance means it’s great for re-enactment projects and anything that needs to have a home spun, rustic feel.
The yarn can be dyed to heathery, mottled shades due to the marled twist. Use cold water dyes or natural dyes for authentic coloured yarns.
Linen makes a particularly good weaving yarn in both the warp and weft for all types of loom and to add a decorative, rustic look. Make mats, runners, wall-hangings.
Braids, tassels, knotting and macramé are very successful. Also useful as a general “string” around the house or garden, though will eventually discolour and rot over time with long exposure to the sun. Excellent when crocheted into tough, strong bags and vessels that will last for years.
