WHAT IS IT?
Strong, smooth and versatile is how we describe our fabulous coloured linen yarn Victor. It’s not easy to get hold of thick, coloured linen, so we source our yarns from anywhere we can in their single form and ply them up. The very fine linen we twist up varies in thickness so some shades will require 4 ends and others perhaps 14 ends to reach the desired thickness. We aim for the equivalent of 10/4nm which is around a 3-4ply knitting thickness and approx. 1mm in diameter, any thicker weights will be highlighted.
Due to nature of how we make our yarns the colours aren’t repeatable once they’ve sold out. However, we do generally have reasonable quantities per colour and may be able to twist up more stocks of similar shades. Make sure you buy enough to complete your project - just in case.
WHAT'S IT FOR?
Linen is ideal for all different crafts requiring a strong, smooth yarn. Though its handle is a little crisp, it transforms after wear and washing, so don’t be put off by its slightly “stringy” feel as some tough love will change it dramatically.
It makes a particularly good weaving yarn in both the warp and weft for all types of loom. Make placemats, table linen, tea towels, cushion covers and bags in a wide range of colours.
Braids, tassels, knotting and macrame are very successful when made from linen as stitches can be seen clearly and linen has a nice drape and weight.
It makes a great yarn to hand and machine knit (on a standard gauge machine) or crochet as around a 4ply as you’ll get great stitch definition and has a good strength. Knit or crochet into garments, throw in the washing machine and tumble drier and it transforms into a soft, wearable yarn that is perfect for spring and summer pieces.

WHY SHOULD I BUY IT?
A yarn that’s difficult to source in heavier weights, so capitalise on the colours and this great price. Repeatable, but not necessarily in exactly the same shades.
