WHAT IS IT?
A gorgeous range of 100% pure silk yarns full of character in a range of plys and textures. Silk really is the height of luxury and these different surfaces create texture in projects without losing the glossy surface you would expect. Ranging from a loopy boucle, to a furry chenille, with slubs and nepps they are a perfect for you to dye to your own shades and are available in two useful sizes.
Choose from: Thai - a tussah silk meaning it has the natural golden colour created by the silk worms munching on oak leaves. It has lots of slubs and nepps and a lovely natural lustre throughout its uneven texture. Bliss - a lopi style yarn with a light twist and a highly glossy surface. It is a mulberry silk meaning it has quite a white/ivory colouration. Bliss has a slight slub meaning it's not quite the same thickness throughout, but this is gentle and adds to the character of the yarn. Boudoir - a loop yarn full of character and texture. The loops are round, even and gleaming and create a glossy surface that light bounces off from all angles. Divine - a tussah silk chenille yarn which has a natural golden cast due to the oak leaves the silk worms muched away on, but has been bleached to soften this colouring to a paler hue. Due to the nature of chenille there is less reflection than a traditionally "spun" yarn, but it still has a lovely natural lustre to create a velvety texture.
Any project created from pure silk has the element of luxury that can’t be achieved with any other yarn. Many degree students use silk for final collections as it highlights their skills beautifully, designers making couture pieces choose silk for the most glamorous of looks, and mere mortals find that silk is a thread to be used once we’ve honed our skills in a particular craft or technique.
If this is a little pricey for you don't forget our Wild Silk and Chinese Silk collections that are all still PURE SILK, but have a rougher textured feel at a brilliant price.
These small skeins are perfect for experimental work - seeing how the silk works. They are also ready to drop straight into a dye bath.*Also available on 50g cones*
