WHAT IS IT?
Ball or wool winders are an excellent accessory for anyone who needs to wind yarn down from a large cone or skein onto a ball. They work particularly well with our umbrella swifts and come with fully illustrated instructions. The winder is made of sturdy plastic and is easily clamped onto a table or worktop. Depending on the texture you can probably wind about 200g of yarn onto a ball.
Please note that this latest batch of boxes were sent in rather unsuitable packaging, so a few of the boxes have bashed corners or slight tears. The contents are robust and in perfect condition, but I wanted to mention it. Some are ok, so if the winder is a gift please let me know and I'll try and choose the best :)
WHAT'S IT FOR?
They are very useful for spinners who need to wind their hand spun yarn into a neat ball or for anyone who has hand dyed yarn on a skein and needs to get it back into a neat ball shape ready to work from with tangles.
The shape of the ball created is flat and almost cylindrical and sits flat on any surface which means you can work straight from the centre of the ball very easily. This is particularly useful for machine knitters who may have yarn on a typical "ball" and wish to machine knit, as the newly created ball allows the yarn to flow freely with an even tension.
