WHAT IS IT?
Please note that we have sold out of cones of the 4ply Wool City, but have 50g balls which will automatically be sent in your order. We can wind these onto a cone if you need us to - just let us know.
Wool City Wool is a collection of British pure wool yarns spun exclusively to our particular specifications. With no air miles, no dyes and happy British sheep, these yarns are eco-friendly and helping to support British farmers and local spinners, winders and ballers (all of whom are based not only within West Yorkshire but within a few miles of our HQ). These simple, classic yarns are variously spun from a blend of Suffolk, Shropshire & British Texel wools.
WHAT'S IT FOR?
Beginning with the finest 2ply for delicate work ending with the sumptuous super chunky there's a yarn for nearly every textile application.
As they are all in their natural state, they can be dyed and felted or used as they are in the lovely pure colours straight from the sheep's back. Don't agitate them too much in the dyeing process as they could start to felt, but gently stir and watch the yarns transform into the colours of your choice - whether solid or space dyed.
All the yarns can be woven very successfully in the weft and with experience in the warp (as the yarn is quite springy).
Make soft and bouncy braids and tassels, couch into embroideries, tapestry and tablet weave as well as:
The 2ply and 4ply are perfect for hand and machine knitting (on a standard gauge machine) and crocheting into lightweight pieces.
DK, Aran, Chunky and Super Chunky thicknesses are ideal for hand and machine knitting (on a chunky machine) and crocheting into medium and chunky projects.

WHY SHOULD I BUY IT?
A yarn for every application! Buying British means it's a very eco yarn as sheep are free range, fair trade, the air miles are minimal and you're supporting British farming.
