WHAT IS IT?
Wool City Wool is a collection of delightful undyed wools perfect for weaving. The fibre is South African in origin, but is manufactured into beautiful yarn in the UK (within a few miles of our HQ). These simple, classic weaving yarns can be used as a warp or weft on modern high speed looms as well as less high tech looms!! Please note that we have both a 2/16 pure wool and a 2/16 with approx. 20% nylon added to the wool content for extra strength.
WHAT'S IT FOR?
These yarns are spun particularly for weaving as they have a higher twist giving them extra strength and making them suitable for weaving in both the weft and warp. The nylon gives extra durability for projects that will need to wear well such as seat covers, cushions or bags.
As they are in their natural state, they can be dyed with hot water dyes or used as they are. Don't agitate them too much, though the high twist prevents most felting and shrinking, but gently stir and watch the yarns transform into the colours of your choice - whether solid or space dyed.

It's difficult to find simple, undyed weaving yarns. Wool also has great thermal properties, it's a very eco yarn as sheep are free range, fair trade and you're supporting British manufacturing.
