WHAT IS IT?
**Dec 2020 - we are currently out of stock, but expecting a new delivery at some point in January. If you'd like to reserve your yarn now we will despatch as soon as we have new stocks. If you order any other yarns at the same time we'll combine the order and send everything together.**
This anniversary Cotton is a 20 strand strong, undyed carded pure cotton yarn. It has 20 single strands all twisted together in one go, rather than in groups. This creates a smooth, simple appearance rather than a corded or rope effect. The 20 strand cotton has a slight lustre which gives it a lovely draping quality.
Please also note that whilst annoying, knots and joins may occasionally occur within the cone/spool. The odd knot is part of the manufacturing process, but should be very few and far between.**Also available in 27, 34 & 44 strand types**
WHAT'S IT FOR?
Perfect for using as a macrame yarn due to the strong, smooth texture and lovely fringing qualities (20 per end!). The slight lustre allows the strands to separate beautifully and drape perfectly for decorative fringing.
The chunkiness of 20 strand Anniversary Cotton means that it's great for impact-full pieces of macrame such as wall-hangings, room dividers, hammocks, chair seats, pot holders or rugs.
Also great for other knotting crafts such as chunky braids, and will make brilliant tassels.
Knit or crochet into sturdy, but soft mats, rugs, throws or bathmats, bags or vessels.
If you are weaving and need some impact, 20 strand Anniversary is perfect to use as a warp or a weft yarn due to the multiple strands and good strength.
Pure cotton can easily be dyed using cold water dyes. As the yarn is pretty thick it will need a big dye pot and room to swish about, but will soak up the dye very well. If that sounds like too much work what about dip-dyeing once your piece is made or painting dye onto specific areas?
Suitable Crafts: Braidmaking, Crocheting, Dyeing, Knitting, Knotting, Macrame, Tasselmaking, Weaving
